The London Football School (LFS) is an FA accredited Grassroots Football Club founded in 2016 based primarily in North and East London. Our club prides itself in offering the highest quality football coaching with a safe, positive, inclusive environment. All our coaches are FA qualified and our directors have backgrounds in, and maintain links with, the professional game. LFS is represented by teams spanning all age groups, from Boys’ and Girls’ teams achieving regular success in a wide variety of local and regional leagues to our senior Men’s and Women’s teams competing in well established senior leagues.

LFS’s focus reaches far beyond the footballing curriculum we pride ourselves in. Since our foundation LFS has dedicated itself to fulfilling our pivotal role as a community club. The benefits of our high standards of football coaching extend further than the bounds of the pitch, from improvements in self-confidence, teamwork and social skills to friendships, cultural and community ties. Alongside competitive football, we also offer a range of footballing activities including Futsal, Summer Camps, community events and Fun Leagues.

Central to our ethos is that Football is for everyone. At LFS, we aim to ensure that nobody is denied access to football due to financial constraints. To achieve this, our club offers a bursary scheme to support those unable to access Football with the cost of playing. Over the years our bursary fund has helped many children play with a structured club environment who otherwise may have been unable to afford to.

Our Football Sessions

Our main sessions, from pre-school all the way up to year 6! We run Toddler Squad sessions for pre-schoolers; pre-foundation for Reception – Year 3; and foundation sessions for Years 4 – 6! We also have girls only sessions for both pre-foundation and foundation sessions.

Originating from South America, Futsal is an indoor variant of football that emphasises skill and finesse. It’s played with a smaller, heavier ball with less players, on a smaller pitch. Our Futsal sessions run midweek, catering for 5 to 11 years old.

Dear Parents, Carers & friends of LFS,

On Wednesday 29th May we’ll be at the Pleasance Theatre in Islington for our next Bursary Event! …A private screening of acclaimed feature documentary NEXT GOAL WINS.

About the Film:
In 2001, American Samoa’s football team suffered a record-breaking 31-0 defeat by Australia, becoming known as the world’s worst team. A decade later, still at the bottom of FIFA’s rankings with no wins, they faced the challenge of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. Enter Dutch coach Thomas Rongen, a maverick who brought hope to the team.

‘Next Goal Wins’ is a documentary about overcoming impossible odds and the true essence of winning in life.

About the Director:
Mike Brett is a long-standing parent at LFS and is a wonderful friend to the club. Mike is a BAFTA-nominated + Emmy & BIFA-winning filmmaker.

LFS Bursary Event
All proceeds from this event will go the LFS Bursary Scheme.

Central to our ethos is that Football is for everyone. Our bursary scheme ensures that financial barriers don’t hinder anyone from playing. We’ve enabled many children to join London Football School, fostering a sense of community and opportunity. Currently, our fundraising supports 100-130 children per term, ensuring they can participate in our sessions and or teams!

LFS Bursary Fund

As many of you will know, the Parent and Carers Committee has traditionally run a number of events throughout the year to raise money for bursaries to support children and families who would otherwise not be able to access the great coaching and community provided by London Football School.

We regularly support between 30 – 50 children per term to access training and the Football School sessions through the provision of subsidies generated by various fundraising activities. Sadly, as a result of the pandemic and then the cost of living crisis, we are seeing that more families than ever need this support and the number of applications have risen significantly. This means that we have to work hard in order to increase the amount of money coming in to the bursary fund.

We have therefore been thinking of other ways that people can help support these children and their families in continuing to access all that LFS has to offer. We have agreed with Ellen and Ben to create a subscription service where people can make a monthly donation that will go directly towards maintaining our bursary funds. There is also an option to make a single donation if preferred. We would be incredibly grateful for any donations that people are willing to make.

We have very limited funds available for this term and the parents association will help as many families as they can.

You can make a one-off or a regular donation to the bursary fund here:

What to Expect

Our biggest focus and priority is to provide fun and high quality football training in a safe, positive and inclusive environment. We also believe in children developing their self confidence, social skills and building friendships through football.

As well as our sessions being fun and engaging, they are structured to optimise player development. The sessions follow the LFS coaching programme which is a broad syllabus of technical topics. All of our practices are suited to the age range and ability of the kids. We carefully breakdown our sessions to make sure the kids get plenty of touches of the ball to develop technically. We endeavour to make sure every session is high energy and fast paced and a has a good intensity.

The Boot Swap Box

Introducing The Boot Swap Box! Within this box, you have the opportunity to contribute your old boots as donations or exchange them for another pair.

Additionally, you can take a pair from the box without needing to contribute your own.

We understand that children grow rapidly, and purchasing boots every other week isn’t always feasible.
